Who we are
The Association of the Knights of San Martino del Monte delle Beatitudes was born from a graft of modernity on the trunk of an ancient and tested tradition. The ancient chivalry had practiced and taught the values of sacrifice, dedication, courage, loyalty in the service of God and in the defense of the weakest. Today's men and women have gone beyond the legends of medieval chivalry, and have remodeled the concept of knights, because they are fascinated by the charismatic figure of Martin of Tours, the knight who first shared his cloak with the poor in the harsh winter and then consecrated the his life in the service of peace and charity. Reflecting on the story of this knight, who gave up brandishing a sword to bend over to the needs of life's wounded, and drawing inspiration from the evangelical Beatitudes, the Knights of St. Martin propose to live their lives in praise of God, respecting the created, in the commitment of society and in the service of the weakest. The inspiring code of their life is the belief that happiness consists neither in wealth, nor in the pursuit of power, nor in any human work; it is in God alone. The strong ideas of the Association's spirituality are: Fraternal love | Voluntary work | the Rule of life: the nine beatitudes (Mt 5, 3-12)
Our mission
The mission of the Knights follows in the footsteps of St. Martin of Tours. In fact, the knights, guided by the example of the saint, who rescued a man in need by giving him half of his cloak, want to share, with people in difficulty, the spiritual and material resources, the joys and sorrows of everyday life. In particular, they will seek strength and light in reading the Bible and in the "Breaking of Bread", that is, in the Eucharist, in order to be themselves people of peace, beacons of light, capable of listening and friendship, of forgiveness and encouragement.
Government
The knights gather in the "TABLE", in which they elect all the service positions, compare the positions, giving everyone a voice without distinction of role and rank. Currently the Association is present in most of the Italian provinces, such as _cc781905- 5cde-3194-bb3b-136bad5cf58d_Piedmont, Veneto, Umbria, Abruzzo, Lazio, Campania, Lombardy, Tuscany, Calabria and Puglia. Abroad, there are many branch offices, governed by "Bailiffs" elected by the Board. The Bailiff represents the Knights in the territory of competence; the Bailiffs of the USA, Venezuela, Mexico and Switzerland are currently operational, as well as the representation of Knights in Canada, England, Belgium, China, Poland, Malta, the United Arab Emirates and San Marino.
